Provoking God's Blessings- a sample teaching from Lesson #2.

Lesson 2. First the Natural, Then the Spiritual

(Excerpts were taken from Lesson 2 to give you a taste of what the book is about. To learn what these spiritual laws are and how to receive freedom from the negative consequences, you will need to order a copy of the book).

Our Father God put in place a system of spiritual laws to manage the quality of life on earth that determines what happens to us now and in the future. Before we discuss them, however, we need to know a few things about the natural laws that exist here on earth. Studying the more familiar natural laws and how they function will help us understand the ones that are spiritual or supernatural and how they affect our life. There is a biblical truth that says, “As it is in the natural, so it is in the spiritual.”

The Laws of Physics Simplified

When God created the earth, He put in place a set of physical laws to govern how everything would function. They are known as the laws of physics. One very common law we first learn about as a child is the law of gravity. To state it simply, what goes up must come down. All of nature learns this physical law early in life. When a toddler is learning how to walk, he experiences how this law works the hard way with mild apprehension, bruises and pain.

I remember so well the day our young daughter Mary was learning to walk around the age of two. She pulled herself up beside the coffee table and was so proud of herself. Then she lost her balance. She fell down hitting her chin hard on the table. Oh, no! My heart went out to her as I ran for some ice to keep down the swelling and pain.

In his private letters to his family, Albert Einstein gave God the glory for helping him discover the other physical laws of the universe in 1905. Later on, you will learn about what Einstein discovered about God’s spiritual law of love. The physical laws work, whether we understand and believe in them or not. To survive in this world, we have to learn how to work with the laws, not go against them. Time, experience, and science teaches us many of the physical laws. God put them into place to establish order and control the chaos that would result without them.

Consequences—Good and Bad

Another important point is that when these laws are put in motion, they produce a consequence. Consequence—the effect, result, or outcome of something occurring earlier (Dictionary.com). People learn to change their behavior after they suffer from or discover success from-- the consequences of the choices they make.

When a small child loses his balance, he falls down. Until he develops the ability to maintain his balance, he is subject to the law of gravity. He will suffer the consequences of the law of gravity (falling and maybe getting hurt) until he masters the skill of balancing. Laws set in motion produce consequences. He will also not be able to move beyond that point until he can safely stand upright.

Once a child learns to keep his movements in balance, he can manage the law of gravity safely. He has learned how-- to work with the law and not be subject to it. He even learns how to put that law to work for him when he plays kickball or enjoys throwing a frisbee. If a young two-year-old child can learn the physical law of gravity, then you can learn how to provoke the spiritual law of-- sowing and reaping.

Life is much more enjoyable and successful when you can flow with the spiritual laws God has established to govern our life on earth. Also, these consequences come with two types of results, either positive or negative. They are the result of what was originally put in motion. If a good action was begun, then a positive result can take place. Likewise, if a bad action was begun, then a negative result will be produced.

Demonstrated by Aerodynamics

For an airplane to get off the ground and fly, a number of laws are involved. The airplane is held down to earth by the law of gravity. It stays at rest until the law of inertia is overcome by the addition of power and thrust. With the power that is generated by the motor and turning prop, the plane begins to move forward. As the plane gathers speed on the runway, the laws of air pressure begin to change and have more effect on the flying surfaces. At a certain speed, depending on the weight of the plane, the air pressure beneath the wings becomes greater than the air pressure above the wings. When this happens, you have lift off—you are now flying.

Such is life in the Spirit!

Life in the Spirit is a lot like learning to fly a plane. You have to go to ground school first to learn the basic rules, regulations, and aerodynamics of flying. Then a certified instructor takes you up and helps you learn the necessary skills.

Many hours of instruction take place first before you are allowed to take your first solo flight. Then comes the day when you finally pass your exam. You are never the same after that. You are no longer earthbound. Temporarily, you can leave all your troubles behind, even the law of gravity. You experience new freedom. You can go anywhere you desire and see new places. You are not sitting around, waiting for life to happen to you. You are taking charge of your life. You are taking calculated risks and exploring new horizons. This is the abundant life God has planned for you to experience.

We have to learn about, understand, and apply the laws of the Spirit in order to overcome the influence of the natural world around us. Living a successful life in the kingdom of God means you not only comprehend the laws, but also practice the laws and principles God has set in motion already to govern the quality of life in his kingdom.

The spirit of adventure

Your spirit comes alive with excitement, anticipation, and a sense of accomplishment. You are living the life God intended you to live—to its fullest. The Holy Spirit is our spiritual flight instructor. If you ask Him, He will gladly teach you how to fly in the spirit. As your copilot and navigator, He will go with you and stay right by your side all the way. After all, He wants you to be successful in life and in God’s kingdom as much as you do. Learning to fly seems complicated at first, but taking one step at a time, one day at a time, anyone who desires to can accomplish it.

The problem with many Christians is they are too intimidated by the prospect of life in the Spirit and never even consider learning a new, spiritual way of life. Like chickens in a farmyard, they would rather stay safely on the ground, limited by their circumstances. Many people resist being stretched beyond their comfort zone and allow the fear of the unknown to influence them. Others are bound by the fear of being rejected by traditional, naturally minded Christians who quench the power of Holy Spirit in their life. Life in the Spirit requires us to make the ultimate choice to overcome all the hindrances and surrender to-- the guiding, sanctifying and equipping work of the Holy Spirit.

A biblical illustration would be the Israelites who refused to enter their promised land, because of their fear and unbelief. The result of not trusting God— meant they had to wander the wilderness for forty more years, and most of them died. During that period, God raised up the next generation who witnessed his supernatural power and divine provisions.

When the Lord heard what you said, He was angry and solemnly swore: 'No one from this evil generation shall see the good land I swore to give your ancestors, except Caleb son of Jephunneh. He will see it, and I will give him and his descendants the land he set his feet on, because he followed the Lord wholeheartedly.'” (Deut. 1:34–35). Joshua was also called to lead the Israelites with Caleb into the Promised Land as well.

The Spiritual Laws

Now, let’s move on to a discussion of God’s spiritual laws. They function in much the same ways as the laws of physics, whether we understand and believe in them or not. They also produce positive or negative results in our lives, and we must learn how not to violate them in order to live successful, productive lives. When we understand how they work, then we can actually initiate them ourselves and use them to our advantage to produce good results. We can make use of God’s spiritual laws to produce blessings in our lives and the lives of those around us.

Cause & Effect

First, we must understand cause and effect. When we see a particular effect has taken place, either good or bad, then we look back in time to try to understand what caused it. Having wisdom means we have learned from the successes or failures of the past and are putting into practice the principles and laws we learned from that experience.

God put the laws of physics in place when He formed our solar system and fashioned planet Earth. His spiritual laws were put in place to govern the quality of life for mankind here on earth, and they are inevitable. That means just like the laws of physics, they already exist, and we need to learn how to use them to our advantage. God put them here to help manage life on earth and bring order out of chaos.

For example, God promised us a successful, prosperous life if we put Him first and obey His commands. So as we learn how to cooperate with God’s spiritual laws and use them to our advantage, life will go well for us. If we violate these laws, then we will experience failure, pain, disappointment, sorrow, sickness, bad health, and broken relationships.

Consequences of Sin

Deuteronomy 28:15–68 makes it clear that disobedience to God’s laws bring curses on us. Verses 16 to 18 tell us we will be cursed in the city and cursed in the country, our basket and kneading trough will be cursed (work), the fruit of our womb (children), our land (crops), herds, and flocks. We will be cursed when we come in and cursed when we go out. These curses affect not only us but can run three to four generations. While the curse, or penalty, for illegitimacy runs for ten generations in a family line (Deut. 23:2). The sins of the Old Testament fathers affected the quality of life for all their descendants.

The second book of Samuel chapters 11 and 12 gives us the story of what happened to King David when he sinned with Bathsheba. That spring David should have gone off to war, fighting with his men. However, he chose to remain in Jerusalem and sent his army out with the Ark of the Covenant to protect them. David abused the kingly power God had given to him by using it for his own personal gain. He was guilty of negligence and not carrying out his kingly responsibilities.

One evening David saw Bathsheba bathing on the roof of her house next door. The temptations of lust and covetousness rose up in his flesh. He sent word for her to join him, and she spent the night, which resulted in sexual promiscuity and adultery. She became pregnant and gave birth to an illegitimate child. I suspect that Satan set this trap for David to bring about his fall from righteousness. If he had gone with his men to war against the enemies of God, he would have not been tempted to sin against God.

Paris relief of David's sin

For David, one sin led to committing another. He eventually orchestrated the murder of her husband, Uriah, on the battlefield. Bathsheba later married David, and she bore him a son. However, the Lord was not pleased with David, for he despised the word of the Lord by doing what was evil in God’s eyes. God sent Nathan, the prophet, to tell David what would happen to him for his disobedience. Nathan spoke the word of the Lord over David that pronounced a curse on his life and family. 'The sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own. Out of your own household I am going to bring calamity upon you.” (2 Sam. 12:10–11).

David repented and God allowed him to live. But his infant son died seven days later. David had fasted and prayed, pleading with God to let his son live, but it was to no avail. In the chapters that follow, we can read about the same kinds of iniquity repeated in the next generation.

Generational Sins of the Father

David’s son Ammon rapes Tamar, his brother Absalom’s sister. This leads to Ammon being murdered by Absalom. Eventually, Absalom rebels against his father and plots to take over the kingdom. The story ends with Absalom’s death. Because of one man’s sin, there was much destruction brought upon David’s lineage and the nation of Israel. How different everything might have been instead if David had gone to war that spring as he should have.

The kingdom of God exists right alongside the physical kingdoms of this earth. Satan and his principalities and powers rule the kingdom of darkness. Our Father God’s spiritual laws function in the invisible, spiritual realm all around us. As members of His kingdom, we have certain rights and privileges that people of the world do not have. We can live successfully in the kingdom as we learn how to make these laws work to our advantage.

Transformation of the Inner Man

Christian ministers and counselors have a great need to understand God’s spiritual laws when it comes to helping people struggling with personal issues. One of the forerunner counseling and teaching ministries over the years has been Elijah House founded by John and Paula Sanford. In 1982, the Sanfords wrote Transformation of the Inner Man, which has sold more than five hundred thousand copies. In 1992, John and his son Mark published A Comprehensive Guide to Deliverance and Inner Healing.

At Elijah House, all diagnoses in counseling is reduced to four basic spiritual laws in Scripture: (1) honoring parents; (2) judging; (3) sowing and reaping; and (4) becoming what we judge in others (Sanford, pp. 55–60). We will look at these four laws first and then go on to discover others God has put in place to govern our lives in His kingdom.

When Tommy and I began our ministry back in the 1980s, the Sanfords were instrumental in teaching us about the blessings associated with obeying these spiritual laws and the curses we bring upon ourselves through our disobedience. The Sanfords’ knowledge and experience helped to launch us into a dynamic ministry of healing and deliverance.

Spiritual Eyes and Ears

We will be blessed and not cursed as we practice following the spiritual laws found in God’s Word with our families, in the church, in the workplace, and everywhere we go. I invite you to walk with me down this road of discovery. But first, ask the Holy Spirit to give you spiritual eyes to see and spiritual ears to hear these fundamental truths. You will need the Spirit of truth to guide you along the way as He reveals the mysteries of the kingdom.

At that time Jesus said, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth [I openly and joyfully acknowledge Your great wisdom], that You have hidden these things [these spiritual truths] from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to infants [to new believers, to those seeking God’s will and purpose].” (Matt. 11:25, AMP)

Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. (Rev. 2:7, NIV)

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked…but his delight is in the [spiritual] law[s] of the Lord, and on His [spiritual] law[s] he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. (Psalms 1)

That is an incredible promise for us as God’s sons and daughters. As we delight in walking in God’s spiritual laws, and applying them daily to every aspect of our lives, we will see good fruit produced in our lives. Life will go well not only for us, but for generations to come! Believe that Father God desires to bless you as you walk in the truth. Intellectual understanding alone does not produce life in the spirit realm. We have to experience revelation on a heart/spirit level to see genuine transformation.

As you read over these questions, take time to write your answers in a notebook. Ask Holy Spirit to give you new understanding and how to apply what you have just learned. If you are participating in a Bible study group, take some time to discuss these questions together and share your answers.

Life Application Questions

  1. Explain what it means that—spiritual laws have consequences.

  2. How does life in the natural world differ from life in the spiritual world around us?

  3. How will we be blessed when we “delight in the law of the Lord”?

  4. What spiritual laws are you familiar with already?

  5. What new idea or concept did you learn in this lesson, or do you think is important to remember?

Sample Prayer- Lesson 2

You can personalize the prayer below by asking Holy Spirit to show you specific issues about which you need to pray. Is there any unconfessed sin in your life? Is there any situation you need to ask the Lord to forgive you for?

Dear Father God, I thank you for choosing me to live the abundant life as a member of your family here on earth. I thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ to teach us valuable lessons about life in your kingdom.

As a child of God, I choose to pursue righteousness and holiness unto You. I choose to repent of any ungodly attitudes and behaviors that would hinder my personal growth in Christ. Lord Jesus, please forgive me for not studying your Word and learning how to practically apply these truths to my life.

Forgive me for being a hearer of the Word only, and not doing the things you have instructed us to do. I ask You to forgive me and wash me clean from all wrongdoing.

Holy Spirit, I ask You to give me eyes to see and ears to hear these spiritual truths. I ask you to be my guide and to reveal to me the mysteries and the parables of the kingdom. Fill me with your Spirit and give me the grace and power I desperately need to mature into the son (daughter) of God you have created me to be.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Leviathan- the mysterious twisting serpent

During the end times in which we live, it is very evident that more and more evil has been released upon the earth. Abortion, drugs, sorcery, witchcraft, sexual perversion, deep state government, evil elite globalists-- to name a few. At the same time, contemporary deliverance ministries have been given new revelation by Holy Spirit for how to defeat our enemies. As darkness covers the earth, the light of Jesus Christ will shine brighter and brighter. Arise! Shine! For the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. Isaiah 60:1.

As a Christian counselor and minister for over 35 years, I have always wanted to stay in touch with what God is doing in and through the body of believers to enable His children to be overcomers in Christ. Last summer I noticed Leviathan mentioned in different articles and videos on the internet. I felt encouraged by Holy Spirit to do some research on this mysterious creature and be able to provide ministry for freedom from it.

My sources included well known ministers like: Derek Prince, Lance Wallnau, Wanda Alger, John Kilpatrick, Tim Sheets, Arthur Burk and Cindy Jacobs. Over a period of several months, I searched the internet, watched videos, listened to DVDs, downloaded lessons and took 78 pages of notes. I have distilled these notes into a message which is ready to be shared with other believers who, like me, desire to grow strong in the Lord and achieve the destiny God has planned for us.

What do we see the Lord doing in this season? He has been exposing the works of the enemy that have been hidden in darkness for decades. He is giving new strategies for spiritual warfare and achieving answers to prayer. He has been advancing the purposes of His kingdom and raising up sons and daughters of God to serve alongside of Him. The kingdom of God is going to manifest on earth as it is in heaven. We better get ready to fight the good fight of faith in our Lord Jesus and equipped to do the works He has planned for us.

What is Leviathan? Leviathan is referred to as the twisting serpent. It is a ruler of darkness that has multiple heads. It literally tries to keep the people of God from transitioning into their God-given inheritance, their destiny and calling-- by flooding their minds and hearts with negative reports and thoughts. Derek Prince teaches that “Leviathan is a type of Satan himself.”

In the book of Job chapter 41:34 the Lord God says, “He is the king of all the children of pride.” As such, he works with lower-level spiritual strongholds of pride and religion. Christians are targeted when they try to advance in God's kingdom and enter into their destiny in Christ. He is also found among pagan religions or perverted sexual identity strongholds.

Leviathan is associated with
spiritual blindness that prevents people from hearing and seeing what the Lord is saying to them. Tim Sheets, Lance Wallnau, and Wanda Alger observed that Leviathan is the spiritual strongman at work behind the scenes in America's government today. The king of pride is displaying defiance against existing authorities and exerting oppressive control and dominance over its' territory.

Cindy Jacobs explained that “It is a covenant breaking spirit that twists communication, brings false accusations, changes the tone or meaning of your words. The hearer hears something very different from what you actually said.” Its' goal is to get Americans to break their long-established covenant with God and rob us of our hope for the future.

The nature of Leviathan is-- it twists and destroys relationships. It creates strife in marriages, churches and governments. It perverts truth, falsely accuses others of wrongdoing, pits people against each other, causes people to have hatred toward others and distorts communications.

Leviathan is a powerful, controlling principality over the Church and our nation. It is openly anti-Christian and hostile toward Godly and patriotic agendas. It creates havoc and destruction by releasing hordes of demons against its' target. These hoards attack from many different directions using unsuspecting people to deliver strife, contention and miscommunication. These demons interject lies and false accusations into our minds, and we think we are hearing from God. When this happens the spiritual gift of discernment becomes a demonic gift of suspicion used against other Christians to cause conflict, division and broken relationships.

Leviathan hides behind lesser demonic strongholds which protect it from being discovered. Leviathan is operating in our nation by harassing our minds and causing confusion. Wanda Alger explains that it “seeks to contort and confuse God's character and purposes. He goes after the believers' ability to hear God's voice, discern truth and know what is good and what is evil, to recognize what is God's truth and the lies of the enemy. He robs us of our peace of mind, causes us to doubt God, eventually weakening our faith and immobilizing us in our assignment.”

Pastor John Kilpatrick talks about Leviathan in his audio teachings online. He contends that “the house of God is the #1 place pride operates.” Carnal Christians refuse to allow the gifts of the Spirit to operate, especially the gift of speaking in tongues when someone receives the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Leviathan rises up angrily against any manifestations of the Holy Spirit in church services.

Kilpatrick gave a list of characteristics of people being controlled by Leviathan. They include being contentious, stubborn, rebellious, outbursts of anger, critical, intimidating, judgmental, gossip, stir up strife among church members, refuses to admit they are wrong and exaggerates their own accomplishments.

Kilpatrick pastored the Brownsville Assembly of God Church in Pensacola, Florida when revival began in 1995. He ought to know Leviathan when he sees it in operation. It was most likely this evil monster that came against the Brownsville School of Ministry in 2002 and shut it down.

Scriptures

Job 41. NIV. When I saw the Lord had devoted a whole chapter to describing Leviathan, I wondered why he did that? The thought came to mind that God wanted to give the Israelites and all future generations a word picture of what Satan's ominous strength and power was like so they would be deathly afraid to go near him, listen to his beguiling words, fall for his covert deceptions, or make an evil covenant with him. Since God created him only God is powerful enough to control him. Men are no match for this high-ranking principality.

Hope Bolinger an author with Christianity.com wrote that, “God knew the illustration of this animal would remind the listener that no powers on earth, whether in the natural world or in man-made kingdoms, can stand the might and glory of our Lord.” Satan is a powerful enemy in this world, but he is no match for the Creator of the universe.

The following is God's second discourse to Job near the end of his trial.
1. “Can you pull in Leviathan with a
fishhook or tie down its tongue with a rope?
Can you put a cord through its nose or pierce its jaw with a hook?
Will it keep begging you for mercy? Will it speak to you with gentle words?
Will it make an agreement with you for you to take it as your slave for life?
Can you make a pet of it like a bird or put it on a leash for the young women in your house?
Will traders barter for it? Will they divide it up among the merchants?
Can you fill its hide with harpoons or its head with fishing spears?
If you lay a hand on it, you will remember the struggle and never do it again!
Any hope of subduing it is false; the mere sight of it is overpowering.
10 No one is fierce enough to rouse it. Who then is able to stand against me?
11 Who has a claim against me that I must pay? Everything under heaven belongs to me.

12. I will not fail to speak of Leviathan’s limbs, its strength and its graceful form.
13 Who can strip off its outer coat? Who can penetrate its double coat of armor?
14 Who dares open the doors of its mouth, ringed about with fearsome teeth?
15 Its back has rows of shields tightly sealed together;
16 each is so close to the next that no air can pass between. 1They are joined fast to one another; they cling together and cannot be parted.

18 Its snorting throws out flashes of light; its eyes are like the rays of dawn.
19 Flames stream from its mouth; sparks of fire shoot out.
20 Smoke pours from its nostrils as from a boiling pot over burning reeds.
21 Its breath sets coals ablaze, and flames dart from its mouth.
22 Strength resides in its neck; dismay goes before it.
23 The folds of its flesh are tightly joined; they are firm and immovable.
24 Its chest is hard as rock, hard as a lower millstone.
25 When it rises up, the mighty are terrified; they retreat before its thrashing.
26 The sword that reaches it has no effect, nor does the spear or the dart or the javelin. 27 Iron it treats like straw and bronze like rotten wood.
28 Arrows do not make it flee; slingstones are like chaff to it.
29 A club seems to it but a piece of straw; it laughs at the rattling of the lance.

30 Its undersides are jagged potsherds, leaving a trail in the mud like a threshing sledge. 31 It makes the depths churn like a boiling caldron and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment. 32 It leaves a glistening wake behind it; one would think the deep had white hair. 33 Nothing on earth is its equal— a creature without fear.
34 It looks down on all that are haughty; it is king over all that are proud.” (KJ- It is king of all the children of pride.)

Psalms 74:12-14. But God is my King from long ago; he brings salvation on the earth. 13 It was you who split open the sea by your power; you broke the heads of the monster in the waters. 14 It was you who crushed the heads of Leviathan.

Psalms104:24-26. How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. 25 There is the sea, vast and spacious,
teeming with creatures beyond number— living things both large and small.
26 There the ships go to and fro, and Leviathan, which you formed to frolic there.

Ephesians 6:10-12. 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Revelation 12:1-17 The Woman and the Dragon

1. A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its headsIts tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. ….

7 Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole 5 world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.”
17 Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring—those who keep God’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus.

5 Types of Indicators Leviathan is at work in your life. Wanda Alger

A. Miscommunication. Leviathan will twist and confuse communications at every level, especially in relationships that have divine purpose. Whether it's by email, social media comments, phone conversation, or face-to-face encounters, comments will be misconstrued, and your intentions misunderstood.

B. Dealing with criticism, fault-finding, or accusation. Leviathan will use others to accuse you or criticize you to keep you frustrated and preoccupied with their negative attacks. If it is not others criticizing you, he will get you to feel
frustrated and discontent with yourself. He is trying to steal your identity in Christ and your confidence in your calling in God's kingdom.

C. Forgetting Previous Victories and Promises. This principality wants you to have no reason for hope or victory through the cross. He will cloud your mind to get you to forget your past victories and prophetic promises. It releases mind-binding demons which attack your memory and cause you to

disqualify yourself for your own destiny.

D. Focusing on your accomplishments, rather than identity. Leviathan wants you to get your identity out of what you DO, not out of who you ARE in Christ. Being the King of Pride, he will grant you a false confidence, stripping you of your greatest weapons against him-- humility and holiness.

E. Anxiety, stress attacks, and physical problems. Eventually, your body will feel the effect of this spirit's work in your life. Headaches, stomach ulcers, insomnia, or a weakened immune system. “I am sick and tired. I can't take it anymore.” You have to stop and take account of what is happening to your health before you totally burn out or break down.

Three illustrations- the principality of Leviathan at work.

1. Liberty Church and Bible College, Pensacola, Florida,     Liberty Bible College was founded by Ken Sumrall in 1964 as one of the first charismatic Bible Colleges in the United States. Its residential facility was in operation for more than 30 years. However, around 1988-89 Liberty began struggling financially to stay open and there was conflict within the leadership over how to solve the problem. Different factions took sides against each other. Accusing lies were spread around, and people got mad at how it was handled and left the church. As a result of the attack by Leviathan, the Bible College was closed down and the church was split into two smaller congregations. People on both sides of the conflict were deeply wounded for years.

2. Brownsville School of Ministry, Pensacola, FL. The revival began in 1995 and ran for about seven years until 2002. The revival brought in a lot of money that was used to start a Bible School and purchase property across town that used to belong-- to old Liberty Church & Bible College. However, the elders at Brownsville Assembly of God and the Assembly of God denomination adhered legalistically to their AG doctrines. They refused to ordain men and women graduating from the Bible school who had been divorced and remarried. This all-out assault on BSM forced this Charismatic Bible school to close down also.

If only years ago, these men and women of God had understood that they were under Leviathan's attack, then they could have prayed corporately and repented of their sins of spiritual pride and control. Perhaps their conflict could have been resolved in brotherly love for one another as they stood united against their enemy.

However, the good news is found in Romans 8:28. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

Each of these Holy Spirit empowered ministries were enabled to recover from Leviathan's attack and rebuild again dynamic, thriving ministries in other locations. Leadership from the Brownsville School of Ministry relocated to Concord, North Carolina and established FIRE School of Ministry. John Kilpatrick moved to Daphne, Alabama and established Church of His Presence.  And two thriving churches rose up to replace the original Liberty Church in Pensacola.

3. America. Multiple Christian ministers agree that Leviathan is the root source of all the evil activities going on in our nation today. From our governmental agencies to human trafficking, to open borders with illegal immigrants and the rigging of our elections. There is evidence this terrible principality is at work trying to destroy America from within and turn Christians against the historical covenant they have with God.

How to we defeat Leviathan?
#1. WARNING. According to Derek Prince, Lance Wallnau and other ministers, we need to leave Leviathan to God. We don't try to take him on by ourselves, or there could be terrific payback. The usual spiritual warfare steps we use against demonic strongholds in humans will not work on Leviathan. If we move in retaliation, he could come back with his fiery attacks from seven different directions at once. We cannot fight this fire-breathing dragon with fire, or we'll be worse off than before.

Lance Wallnau warns
us
that “we don't need to engage fallen angels in
spiritual warfare. The warrior angels of God are assigned to deal with Satan's army.” We can ask God to send his warrior angels to do battle for us. We can ask God to deliver us from this powerful principality.

John Kilpatrick teaches that “man cannot deal with Leviathan by himself. He cannot be mastered or controlled. God has to expose him working through us. So, we can humble ourselves and repent.” Only through humility and repentance can we overcome this monster principality. Holy Spirit has to reveal the sin of pride in the church and in us, because people have been blinded, are in denial and defend their own self-righteousness.

Arthur Burk, a well-known and respected deliverance minister, points out that we can be set free from its stranglehold on our life. He testifies that he was tormented all throughout his childhood by a Leviathan spirit. He suffered from times of depression or high emotional swings, insomnia and nightmares until he was able to rid himself of its hold on his personality and character.

What is the best strategy for dealing with Leviathan and its' hoard of demons?

#1. We need to take action at the sole direction of the Holy Spirit-- in the court of heaven. We need to take our case before the throne of God with Jesus as our advocate and let them decide how to deal with Leviathan. If you are not familiar with praying in the courts of heaven, I can recommend Robert Henderson's books and videos, or Dave Hayes at Praying Medic.com.

Isaiah 27:1. “In that day, the Lord will punish with his sword—his fierce, great and powerful sword— Leviathan the gliding serpent, Leviathan the coiling serpent; he will slay the monster of the sea.”

From this scripture, we see he takes on different forms: a serpent and a sea monster. In Revelation chapter 12, he appears as a red dragon-like creature. Through prayer and repentance, we can trust the Lord to take down this evil monster for us.

#2. We have to move in a spirit of humility against it and plead our case before
God to deliver us. The only way to deal with Leviathan is first to spend time before the Lord in humility and repent of any way we have given place to Leviathan’s strongholds in our own life and ask forgiveness. We have to ask Holy Spirit to show us any way we have given place to this controlling stronghold.

In her article Dealing with the King of Pride, Wanda Alger instructs believers to “simply submit in humility and agree that He (God) alone is the Righteous Judge. Isaiah 27:1 states that the Lord Himself will deal with Leviathan. “Do not be afraid of them (our enemies); the Lord your God will fight for you.”

Therefore, we need to humble ourselves before God and before each other. We have to lay down our own spiritual pride and any temptation to be independent of each other. We have to lay down offenses toward spiritual authorities and honor those whom the Lord has established as pastors and shepherds in our churches and communities. This will establish the unity and mutual love for one another that we need to overcome Leviathan and see him displaced (Alger).

James 4:6-8 NIV. God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Closing prayer. The prayer below was crafted from a message Lance Wallnau gave at a church that was experiencing a major attack by Leviathan. Lance has a CD set on Leviathan and controlling spirits that can be ordered from his website. Wanda Alger has a deliverance course with a workbook on Leviathan that is available from her website. Prayer to Renounce Leviathan & Overcome Its Control

Father God, we thank you for exposing this twisting serpent called Leviathan and alerting us to how it wants to destroy our covenantal relationships with each other, with our church, and with the one true God. We call for warrior angels to gather up the demonic spirits we address today and to carry them away, never to return. We ask you, Lord God, to draw your sword against Leviathan and to slay him for us.

We come before you based on the finished work of the cross and through the blood of Jesus Christ shed for our sins. We thank you we have forgiveness of our sins and will experience your abundant grace and mercy with resurrection
 life.

In the Name of Jesus, I solemnly make a contract-- with my tongue in the spirit realm. I will catch every ungodly thought that floods my mind toward another living soul. I will bring it captive to the obedience of Jesus Christ. I will catch the negative words and the deeds toward others and submit them to Holy Spirit for review.

Beginning now, I break my agreement with Leviathan's power over me. I ask Holy Spirit to give me a renewed mind, attitude and behavior so I can walk in the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Lord, show me every area where I have given place to this twisting serpent and its' demons so I can repent of giving place to them and allowing them to control me.

I set my will to create a place of love and humility toward others who may be caught up in Leviathan's deception and control. I will pray for others who attack me, criticize me or use anger or humiliation to control me. Father, I thank you for the grace to treat others with love and respect even when they falsely accuse me of sinning against them.

I will overcome all adversity, strife, and contention with the blood of the Lamb, the word of my testimony and that I do not love life even unto death. I will overcome evil with goodness. I pray for the gift of discernment by the Holy Spirit so I can know that which is evil and that which is good. I will walk in step with the Spirit of holiness and truth.

Father, I ask you to give me spiritual ears to hear what the Spirit is saying and eyes to see what the Spirit is doing-- in every situation of conflict, confusion and accusation. I refuse to listen to the accuser of the brethren speaking through others and to walk with them in love and humility. I will pray for those that persecute me and ask God to bless them with light and truth.

Thank you, Father God, for setting me free from the bondages of Leviathan. My mind is being renewed so I can think with the mind of Christ. My heart is being healed so I can love others with the pure love of God. I will walk in my destiny and the inheritance I have in Christ. I will experience the glory of God and achieve the call of God on my life.

We declare this prayer is now sealed by the blood of Jesus and will not return void but will go forth to produce the purposes of God in my life. Amen!
